This model supports winding hooksets with a design focused on balancing extreme sensitivity for detecting bites with quick full-power response of the XXL shape when gripping near the outer edge of the handle.
He repeatedly fine-tuned the 90mm length and adopted a newly designed 4.5mm carbon prepreg bonded in a high-pressure crank shape, refreshing the previous “STANDARD PLUS” logo.
The handle knob was redesigned from the R27XL, which Peter was passionate about, into the R27XXL—a fully tuned long knob that accommodates three fingers.
By expanding the center nut's surface area, the reel screw threads insert deeper, increasing holding strength and enhancing both sensitivity and rigidity as if the shaft were welded in place—applied to both R27XXL and R24XXL models.
As a result, the retainer to prevent nut loosening is no longer required in this model.
Instead of the standard 4φ shaft, a robust 5φ SUS shaft for saltwater use is adopted, prioritizing rigidity.
