Product Description

Magnetic brake for Old Bantam.
Please note that this product is not compatible with genuine spools.
Available only when using Avail microcast spools.

By using this part, you can enjoy the feeling of both centrifugal and magnetic brakes.
You can choose the type of brake that better suits your needs and preferences.
It will also be possible to use centrifugal and magnetic together.



The unit itself can be fitted with up to six magnets.
The thickness of the magnet that can be installed depends on the groove depth of the spool used.
For details, please refer to the "Installation of additional magnets" section at the bottom of this page.

This product comes with a total of 4 magnets: 2 x 3.5 mm / 2 x 4.0 mm.
More fine-tuned brake setting is possible by overlapping the separately sold magnets.
In addition, the use of magnets eliminates the possibility of brake blocks falling off or being lost when changing spools.

Since the size of the mounting portion differs between Bantam 100 and Bantam 10, etc., two models are available.





The image above is a magnified view of the mounting area of Bantam100 and Bantam10.
A comparison reveals that they are manufactured in different ways.
Compared to the machined Bantam 100, the cast Bantam 10 has a slightly smaller mounting.
Two types are available because of the difference in size due to these manufacturing methods.
Use MB-BTM-A for Bantam100 and MB-BTM-B for Bantam10.
For other Bantam series that can be equipped with Microcast spools, please refer to the following compatible models for purchase.

How to Install

Installation of brake unit

Installation is very simple.
There is no difficult disassembly or assembly.



Remove the body A fixing bolt, and then remove the handle side as shown in the above figure.
There is a convex part where the bearing is fixed on the spool side of the body fixing plate assembly.
The magnetic brake is then attached to it.



When installed, it looks like the figure above.
This completes the installation of the magnet brake.
After installation, set the magnet size to your preference and adjust the brake.


Installation of Magnets

The magnets should have alternating N and S poles as shown in the photo.
This continuous arrangement stabilizes the magnetic field and thus the braking force.

To remove the magnet, attach a wrench or iron attached to the reel to the magnet and pull it out.
* Because it is a highly magnetic magnet, please keep it away from magnetically weak objects such as watches, computers, and credit cards as well as bearings.


Installation of Additional Magnets

The maximum height of the magnet that can be used depends on the groove depth of the micro-cast spool for old Bantam you are using.
If you want to use the brake with stronger and finer adjustment range, please refer to the following and consider purchasing additional magnets.

The shallow groove type BTM1020R can add magnets up to 5.5 mm thick (height).
Please note that if the magnet exceeds 5.5 mm, it will interfere with the backside of the spool and cannot be used.
Optional set of 8 auxiliary magnets φ4 x 1mm - Magnets φ4 x 1 to 5mm / φ5 x 1.5 to 4mm [total 11 sizes] can be used for more detailed brake setting.

- When using Microcast Spool BTM1039R/BTM2039R




Microcast Spool BTM1039R / BTM2039R spools can add magnets up to 4.5mm thick (height).
Please note that if the magnet exceeds 4.5 mm, it will interfere with the backside of the spool and cannot be used.
Optional set of 8 auxiliary magnets φ4 x 1mm - Magnets φ4 x 1 to 5mm / φ5 x 1.5 to 4mm [total 11 sizes] can be used for more detailed brake setting.


Deformation of This Product

This product is secured by fitting into the housing section where the bearing that holds the spool fits.
Therefore, depending on the thickness of the housing, there is a possibility that the mounting area may expand when repeatedly removing and installing the housing or using it for a long period of time.
