[IOS Factory] Foresta Wood Handle Knob (1 Piece) *HKWD
Our Selling Price: US$39.60 [Regular Price: US$66.00]
Foresta
Foresta" means "forest" in Italian.
Rare and valuable woods, such as ebony and pear wood, which are said to be inhabited by forest fairies, are carefully examined. Hand-cut one by one to achieve the ultra-thin and wide shape that has been well-reputed in cardinal wood knobs.
Furthermore, the wide surface pressure of the three-directional curve, which is unimaginable from the ultra-thinness, provides instantaneous fitting performance.
Using a resin inner pipe, which is the antithesis of the era of bearings, provides moist retrieval sensitivity.
Beautiful and impressive end screws, inspired by the screws on watches with see-through backs.
All-weather compatibility regardless of season, weather, and active scene from weakly acidic waters to salt waters.
Foresta Black Ebony/Silver screw specification
Foresta Padouk (KARIN)/Gold screw specification

Thickest part: approx. 10.5 mm

Features
1. All-weather support
Reduces the risk of metal corrosion, which has been a bottleneck of bearing specifications.
The unique resin liner shape also functions as a dustproof seal, reducing problems caused by sand intrusion.
This all-weather knob can be used in all seasons, in all weather conditions, and all water conditions, from mildly acidic water to brackish water and saltwater.
2. Lightweight
The total weight of the knob body and screws together is less than 3 g, thanks to the use of a thin screw and resin liner and the use of thin-wall processing.
Because the outer side of the center of gravity greatly influences the moment of inertia, we were concerned about weight reduction to the utmost.
3. Cool & Silent
The lightweight, original resin liner shape provides near-bearing type rotational performance and a silky feel.
4. High Sensitivity & High Footing
The ultra-thin shape is machined to the limit of its proximity to the handle knob axis.
The shape is also widened to the limit to minimize the deterioration of information transmission.
Highly fittable, said to be able to fit between the fingers.
The unprecedented retrieve sensitivity of the knob shaft, which always captures the center of the knob shaft with the center of the finger, is said to be "like walking barefooted."
5. Original End Screw
The small end screw greatly affects the impression of the handle knob.
The impressive ultra-thin end screws, full of functional beauty, are based on the motif of see-through back watch screws to achieve light weight and beautiful trueness.
A special wrench is included for installation to keep the design quality intact.

Before purchasing
Please read the following before purchasing.
1. Please be sure to install it on the genuine handle.
If the handle knob shaft is scratched, dirty, or rusted, the knob will not turn properly.
Please clean the knob shaft before installation.
2. The genuine handle are compatible.
3. Please use the supplied wrench for the end screws.
Use of a commercially available screwdriver may damage the end screws.
Please note that using a precision screwdriver will also deform the screws.
4. For daily maintenance, apply IOS oil to the inside of the knob shaft.
For the knob itself, use "IOS Drag Grease SIROKUMA."
5. After submersion in water, sand, or seawater, please rinse and disassemble the knob as soon as possible, wash the inside of the liner and handle shaft with alcohol solvent, dry well, and apply IOS oil.
6. Resin liners can be used in combination with a base.
However, please note that if adhesive sticks to the inside of the plastic liner, the rotatability of the liner will deteriorate.
7. In principle, fine-tune the front/rear misalignment using dedicated shims.
For some models, it may be necessary to adjust the length by shaving the resin liner.
In this case, please use a sharpener, etc.
Excessive shaving will cause sagging, so please be careful not to shave more than 0.2 mm.
8. Durability is several times greater than that of bearings, but resin also has a risk of wear.
Running out of oil can significantly accelerate the wear of the resin liner.
If the resin liner wears out, the rattling may become more noticeable.
Installation Example
1. Remove the knob from the stock handle and clean it well to remove rust and dirt.
If tightening screws have deformed the shaft shaft, the resin liner may not fit smoothly.
2. Select a collar that fits the handle knob and fit it.
Temporarily assemble to the handle.
*Fixing with adhesive will further increase rigidity.
Be careful not to put it inside the liner.
3 Always apply IOS oil to the shaft. Other oils may deteriorate the resin liner.
Collar Selection
Please refer to the following images to combine collars.
Collar Small For NEW type stepped SHIMANO
Collar Medium For DAIWA in general
Collar Large For old SHIMANO (no step)
Liner Bonding Method
Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the collar in advance, and then insert the knob from above.
*Please be sure to perform a temporary assembly.
How to Remove the Collar
When replacing the handle or replacing the collar, the collar can be easily removed by inserting the handle knob shaft from the end screw side of the knob.
Rattling Adjustment
- When the resin liner is shorter than the knob shaft
Use the supplied shim to adjust.
If the shim can be inserted at the base of the handle, inserting the shim at the bottom is OK.
- When the plastic liner is longer than the knob shaft
If the liner is longer than the shaft, replace the collar with another one and check again.
Fine adjustments can be made by shaving the plastic liner, but burrs inside the liner will affect the rotatability.
Always finger-tighten the screws, and use the supplied special tool for tightening.
Precision screwdrivers are not compatible and cannot be used because they will scratch the screw.
Check for rotation and looseness.
