Item Description

Pull off Targets that Stick to Their Roots

Galupa86B is a hard rock shore bait rod variable to 8.6ft and 9.5ft.
The Galupa86B is a rod capable of twisting with force on rockfish and root-hardened game fish such as taman throughout Japan.

The blanks are designed to have the overall tenacity and tensile strength required for rock-shore fishing.
The tensile tip section helps anglers to dodge root snags.
The entire rod is designed to catch the torquey plunge of rockfish, so the angler does not give up the initiative.

We developed this rod to win the "do it or be it" battle from the moment it is hooked.

Galupa86B, like Empinado91S, is a rod we started developing for rock-shore anglers to help them enjoy fishing more safely and comfortably.

We believe this multi-piece rod will be an excellent ally for rock-shore anglers, allowing them to more safely enter points they have given up or hesitated to fish.

It took four years to complete this rod for anglers who enjoy and challenge the rockfish game.

The biggest problem developing the Galupa86B was how much tension and stiffness to add to the tip.

When targeting rockfish, a taut tip is essential to avoid getting caught in the roots.
However, when we tried to reproduce this in a multi-piece rod, the rod's balance became unbalanced, leading to damage.

Since the risk of breakage cannot be avoided with the conventional fast taper of rockfish rods, we decided to increase the overall power of the rod and make it a regular taper rod.

This resulted in a very stiff and tenacious rod.
Furthermore, since the rod bends without sticking out, it can achieve a different dimension of casting distance when used by those who can swing a bait rod well.

Why 8.6FT and 9.5FT lengths?

The Galupa 8.6 ft version is ideal for situations where long casting is unnecessary or when attacking roots around the feet.
It also has a 30g balancer weight for anglers who prefer a hand center of gravity.
Therefore, the length and balance of this lure are best suited for anglers who mainly fish by lifting and falling, such as using Texas or free-rigging.

For anglers targeting Bekkouzoi (rockfish) or Ainame (greenling) in the Tohoku region, and for anglers targeting Akahata (red bream) and Kijihata (yellowback seabream), keeping the rod upright is essential to avoid getting stuck in the water.

A rod around 8 ft. is more hand oriented but cannot avoid the roots in front of it, nor can it gain height on the lift.
Conversely, a length in the 9-ft range will result in a weakening tip weight.
The 8.6 ft length was the solution to such subtle length frustrations.

The 9.6 ft version of Galupa is the ideal length for jighead swimming that requires long casts.
Until now, no tough bait rod can firmly put pressure on fish and control the direction of their heads at 70m-80m long, such as Oomonhata (bigscale soldierfish), Sujiala (yellowtail scad), and Taman (rock bream).

We have tested GARUPPA many times with large-sized giant grouper and taman, and were able to build overwhelming power into its blanks.

Also, the extension section of Garuppa does not have guides.
With the conventional Trans system, you had to take the line out of the guide once and add an extension section.
Garuppa can be instantly lengthened to suit the rocky shore conditions at any given moment.

In rocky areas where it is not comfortable, Garuppa, which can be used in two different lengths, will be a great help for stoic anglers who aim for rockfish.

Committed to Quality

We are particular about the length and balance of the grip end.
For example, the Garupa 86B grip end length is 365 mm.
This is enough not to get in the way when making short casts when attacking the root zone and sufficient to apply force when making long casts easily.
The EVA length of the rear grip is longer than that of conventional separate-type grips.
This is to prevent the rod from slipping and make it easier for anglers to exert force when hooking and fighting.

The overall balance of the rod is essential in the rockfish game.
We paid particular attention to the balance, especially when using the 8.6-ft version.

We designed the rod so that the center of gravity is in the palm of the hand when a reel in the 300 range is attached so that anglers can carefully search the bottom without getting tired when fishing lift-and-fall.
The rod's angle can always be kept high, so it can be fed firmly after a bite, which improves the hooking rate.
The balance of this multi-piece rod is beyond that of conventional rockfish game rods.

Guide Setting

The most significant advantage of using a bait rod when playing a rock-shore rockfish game is the ability to put in a long leader.

Galupa86B is set up so PE No.5 and 60lb leaders can be put in 2 fathoms without any problem.
The top guide is KG No. 6.
LRV guides are used for the other guides.

The main line and leader are thicker, which increases the load on the guides when casting.
A single guide tends to bend easily, while a conventional KW guide is concerned about the tip of the lead.

The LRV guide solves both of these problems, while the RV guide's unique thread release characteristics allow the angler to cast comfortably even with a guide diameter of No. 6.

Sea Bass Game in Galupa86B

The Galupa86B can also be used in the big-bait sea bass game that has become popular recently.
When casting lures larger than 2 oz. in strong currents or when long casts are required, the Galupa86B can greatly help anglers.
The rod's blanks are designed with rockfish in mind so that anglers can pull seabass away from the structure and fight them in overwhelmingly favorable conditions.

While most bait sea bass rods are set up with a slow taper and tend to bend when thrown, GARUPPA 86B has overall bounce and power so that anglers can throw lures sharply like a bass rod.

It is a rod that fits well with those who do not like slow rods.

Tester Impressions

We want to control everything from hooking to catching rockfish.
The multi-piece rod project for rockfish started with this in mind.
We wanted to make the rod hard and strong to the tip. The development of Garupa almost failed once because the ideal was too high, but after four years, the ideal rod was finally completed.

The problem was that making the rod hard to the tip would strain other sections and lead to breakage.
The stiffer we made the rod, the more distortion would occur somewhere.
We changed the blanks many times and conducted tests.
In the testing process, we arrived at the ultimate fast taper, a rod that bends regularly as it passes through the water.

For rooting and sensitivity, the tip must not be overpowered by the weight of the lure.
Power from the tip to the belly to start the fight in a high striking position from hooking.
The butt section must be strong enough to withstand a solid hooking action and keep the fish afloat.
The GARUPPA 86B is the ideal rod for all of these.

I think the best part of rock fishing is the feeling of weight transmitted to the hand when hooked and the fight that starts immediately after that.
Hard rockfish fishing is all about catching them with the entire rod and enjoying them with full drag.

Masayuki Yamane

The Kyushu area is home to a large number of rockfish.
During the high season, I frequently go to the rocky shore to target rockfish.
This Garupa has all the necessary elements for targeting rockfish.

First, the entire rod, especially the tip, is firm and resilient.
The rod's ability to sense the bottom and the lure's distance from the rod's firmness is impressive.
This rod enables anglers to send lures from the shore to points where other anglers cannot reach them, which is a significant advantage because fish respond more frequently.

Next, after hooking the lure, it can bend and lift the fish off the bottom.
When hooking a crucian carp, red grouper, giant grouper, or southern cod, the fish must instantly turn its head to the angler's side after hooking, or the possibility of a break is very high.
A rod with a soft tip will naturally reduce the catch rate, while a rod like a stick will put great stress on the angler's side.
The regular taper design is designed to solve such problems.

The length of the rod makes it easy to handle.
The 96B is the best rod for targeting striped bonito, large rockfish, and Taman in Kyushu, and it is light and long enough not to tire anglers out even when fishing by lifting and falling on the bottom with the rod upright.

The rod is light and long enough to be comfortable to cast lure weights from 30g to 60g, and from the testing stage, we were able to catch much fish with the distance and power this rod produces.

Power is justice!
This rod is a rod that fits such a phrase.
