Multi-Cut Spool Rings with a Different Flying Dimension

A large variable cut surface has been introduced at the bottom of the spool ring while the taper angle of the spool ring is closer to that of distance-first throw reels.
As the line released immediately after casting strikes the spool ring with great force, the multi-cut surface adds some resistance, rectifying the released line and preventing casting problems.
In the mid to late stages of casting, the lure's casting speed slows down due to aerodynamic drag, and the line released from the spool has less momentum, and its loop expands to reduce contact with the variable cut surface.
Since the released line only touches the upper end of the spool ring, the tapered angle of low resistance results in minimal release resistance.
The material used for this spool ring is A7075T6 = ultra-super duralumin, which boasts the highest grade of hardness among aluminum alloys.
The surface is coated with extra-thick black anodized aluminum to further reduce line discharge resistance.




Absolutely Waterproof! Cassette Drag (patent pending)

Even with waterproof rubber on the drag knob and a trap wall on the spool, the spool is pulled by the line and tilted slightly when the tackle is actually set up.
Flooding due to splashing during boat movement/water landing on reels while wading is inevitable in this condition, and washing with water after use is also a major risk.
Fiber-based drag washers easily absorb seawater, and grease mixes with moisture, causing emulsification.
Even with a new reel, the drag will not work properly if conditions are not right.



Washers were placed and greased inside the drag cassette and shielded with waterproof rubber.
The highest waterproof performance ensures the original drag performance for a long time.



When the entire reel was immersed in the colored liquid to check for flooding of the drag mechanism, SOM's system completely prevented flooding, whereas a typical spool design would have allowed flooding of the drag mechanism within a few minutes.


Two Drag Characteristic Tuning [Power T] [Smooth S]

A change in line thickness indicates that the target fish is larger or the field conditions used are different.

The power setting has a sticky element in the sliding characteristics for thicker lines, allowing for powerful hooking and fighting.
Smooth setting with quick initial action for thin lines and a flat drag slip for delicate fighting.
Both No. 4000 and No. 3000 are designed with PE 1.5-150m for Shallow S and PE 1-150m for Super Shallow SS. The S spool has a toughness setting and the SS has a smooth setting, tuned with different felt materials and grease viscosities.

All-Laminated Carbon that Promises Ultra-Stiffness and High Sensitivity



This time, STUDIO OCEAN MARK created a carbon molding die exclusively for EX.
Furthermore, even with a design that has a large bending angle, all high-modulus carbon is laminated to resist bending and twisting.
The carbon sheet lamination angle has also been tested to achieve super rigidity.
The vibration damping due to the stacking angle is also taken care of, and it conveys amazing underwater information to the angler when reeling in for the first time.


Materials that Combine Strength and Light Weight

Ultra-super duralumin A7075T6 is used for handle rivets.
The handle shaft connected to the reel is made of alloy titanium TB340.
No special lightweight processing is used to achieve strength and lightweight on a material basis, while ensuring durability.


Maintenance-Free Plastic Bushings with No-Supply type



Reels in the 4000-3000 class are the ideal size for wading, and the risk of not only splashing waves but also the reel itself landing on the water is unavoidable, and even if rust-resistant models are used for handle knob bearings, tide gouging will occur.
Therefore, we have incorporated grease-impregnated resin into the bearing size by precision machining.
The oil components that seep out microscopically provide long-lasting smooth rotation and completely maintenance-free performance.
