Of the two models, the BCAL-55ST is compatible with a wider range of models.

The compatible models are based on reels confirmed by Avail, categorized according to the design of genuine parts.
It is also possible to install a flared-type mechanical brake on reels with straight genuine mechanical brake knobs.

For models not listed above, you can usually install this product if the depth of your reel’s mechanical brake knob is within ±0.5mm of the specified size.

*Ultra Cast models are not yet confirmed.
*The BCAL-55FL cannot be installed on the 1000 series or 2000 series.



It cannot be installed on reels with a mechanical brake design where the cap has slits, like early models of the Ambassadeur 5000 or 5000D, which have wire tension indicators on the side plates.


How to Use

Remove the genuine mechanical brake knob and transfer the parts attached to the inside to this product.
These parts include a copper plate (in some models, a combination of a copper plate and a felt washer).
Please store the removed genuine parts carefully to avoid losing them.
After installation, adjust the number of copper plates so that the skirt of the mechanical brake knob hooks onto the rubber gasket.


Spool Cap on Handle Side

For some reel models, this product can also be installed on the spool cap on the handle side, in addition to the palming cup side.

There are also models where the mechanical brake for the 2500C is compatible.
(Adjust the copper plates so that the spool is centered when the cap is fully tightened.)
Please note that for the 2500C-compatible models, the 5500C brake knob is incompatible due to interference with the star drag.

Please measure and confirm the size of your reel’s spool cap before purchasing.
