SHG bearing

The high-sensitive bearing whose rotary performance is terrific is for professional use. The products were carefully selected by hand work from the crowd of other bearings.
The rotational performance is superior to HRCB, and there is no rival for its ultimate smoothness.
This is the bearing to tune up for professional-use. It is very suitable for a high sensitivity reel to challenge by delicate tackle.



HRCB bearing

The new technique that metal itself is hard to get rusty very much by special manufacturing method is adopted.
The bearing is resistance to salt water.
And the derusting performance is more than ten times compared with SHG.
It makes rotation feeling like silky smoothness that's quite unique to HEDGEHOG STUDIO.
That helps tough fishing situation that requires both rotation performance and durability in a high level.
It is the next-generation anti-rust bearings for Salt Water angler.


How to choose bearings

SHG bearing : for freshwater fishing such as Bass/Trout or fishing which attaches importance to sensitivity by using light weight lures

HRCB bearing : for overall saltwater fishing which attaches importance to anti-rust effect
(Although you can use SHG bearing on saltwater fishing, HRCB bearing is more suitable because of its durability.)

Instructions

for 2 Bearing Line Roller System

Replace the plastic collar inside the 18 CALDIA Line Roller Twist Buster II with a bearing size 740.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws from the line roller section and take out all the internal parts.
Then replace the parts surrounded by the orange frame with the supplied parts.
The better the rotation of the line roller, the less likely it is that the thread will slip.
It also keeps the thread supple and improves the durability and flying distance.


for Bearing Drag System ( Spool Inside Bearing )

If you remove the drag washers from the inside of the 18 CALDIA spool, you will see a collar at the far end.
Replacing this collar with a bearing is called a finesse spool drag bearing tune.
By adding a bearing to this part, you can make the rotation of the drag smoother.
It also reduces drag sticking and supports smooth line release.

How to install


Remove the drag ring and drag washer from the spool.
It is recommended to arrange the removed parts in order at this time so that you can work smoothly when reassembling the parts at the end.



When you remove the drag washers, you will see a collar fixed to the bottom of the spool by a stopper ring.
Use a small flat head screwdriver or toothpick to remove the stopper ring and pull out the collar.
The stopper ring is very easy to lose when removing the spool, so please be careful when working with it.



Replace the collar with the bearing size 1060 provided in the kit.



Assemble the bearing in the spool and secure it with the stopper ring.
Now assemble in the reverse order of removing the drag washers.
Install the reel and check that the spool rotates smoothly and that the click sound is heard.
If there are no problems, the work is complete.
If it does not work properly, the parts may be in the wrong order.
Please disassemble and check again.


for Bearing Drag System (Spool Shaft Bearing)

The plastic ring attached to the spool shaft of the 18 CALDIA can be replaced with a bearing to improve the drag performance.
This part, which supports the spool, can be replaced with a bearing for a smoother sliding drag.

How to install


The first step is to remove the adjusting washer from the spool shaft.
Then the part indicated by the arrow will come out.


Next, remove it with the supplied hexagonal wrench.


This process will allow you to remove the collar and spool metal.


Replace the collar with the 1170 size of the bearing supplied with the kit.


Reattach the spool metal and bearing to the spool shaft.
Fasten the parts together using the screws that first appeared in the image of the enlarged section.


This is the last step.
Incorporating the adjusting washer completes the process.


for 2 Bearing Handle Knob System


Replace the two Collars in the handle knob of 18 CALDIA with bearings.
The reel has a smooth winding feel thanks to the air rotor and high precision tough digital gears.
However, by adding bearings to the handle knob, you can further improve the winding feel and sensitivity.
When installing this kit, we do not touch the part under the rotor, which is marked with an imprint of the mag shield, the part that contains the mag shield.
Please be assured that the mag shield will not come off during the installation process.
It is easy to reassemble the parts and return the reel to stock condition.

Quality

The difference between the bearings of HEDGEHOG STUDIO and the bearings generally sold.

Almost of all bearings that you can purchase in hardware stores or online stores at cheap price are made for industrial use.

Since industrial bearings are made on the assumption that those are rotated by electric motor, fitting them into a reel as they are causes "heavy and rough" rotation.

Reel is handled by human hands.
Turning the handle by human hands… in other words turning the bearing by our hands.
Therefore different quality from the industrial bearing rotated by a motor is asked for here.

The bearing of HEDGEHOG STUDIO is Japanese-made product tuned up in consideration of fitting it in a reel.
If you take in your hand, turn and compare the bearing of HEDGEHOG STUDIO with an industrial-use bearing, you will immediately understand the overwhelming difference in smoothness.


FAQ

Q:I'm tyring to tune a spinning reel for the first time. Isn't it difficult to do that if not used to it?

A:Although quite a few our customer are worried about it, most of those who tried it once said that was very easy to finish up.
With clear instructions, there is almost no inquiry about installation from customers after purchasing.


Q:Why does the kit include just 1 Line Roller bearing despite the kit is for "2 Bearing Line Roller System"?

A:Some kits include just 1 bearing for "2 Bearing Line Roller System".
It means that the reel has 1 line roller bearing originally and the original bearing is to be used as the other one for the 2 bearing system. (Then it comes to 2 beairngs.)
(The original bearing + one bearing with the kit = 2)
"2 Bearing Line Roller System" is NOT for all types of spinning reel.

Q:Some kits do not include bearings for every systems.
For example, the kit for OLD CERTATE doesn't have bearing for line roller and handle knob.
Why is that?

A:In some types of reel, bearing cannot be added for all of the bearing systems.
In case of OLD CERTATE, it originally has 1 line roller bearing and 2 handle knob bearings already, and one more bearing cannot be added to line roller.
As to Drag System, the reel, which has no bearing in spool, can accept 1 bearing (not 2 bearings) to be added.
That's to say that all you are supposed to do for "Full Bearing" tuning of OLD CERTATE is to add just 1 bearing to spool shaft for Drag System.
It depends on the type of reel. So please check the compatibility.
