Benefits of Replacing the Line Roller with an Aftermarket 2BB Component

- SHIMANO's Core Protect line roller integrates the line roller and bearing, preventing the removal of just the bearing.
If sand enters the bearing, cleaning the line roller won't remove it from inside the bearing, meaning the entire line roller must be replaced with a new one.
The initial rust and durability resistance of Core Protect line rollers is high, but once the bearing gets dirty, maintenance becomes difficult.

- Although not equipped with Core Protect, this uses a 1BB-type line roller.
The genuine line roller cannot be upgraded to a 2BB version.

[15 EXIST, etc.]

- DAIWA's Magsealed line rollers lose their Magsealed oil when disassembled for cleaning.
As the genuine Magsealed oil is not sold, cleaning results in a loss of the initial durability.

*By switching to aftermarket line rollers, all these reels can be upgraded to a high-spin, maintenance-friendly 2BB line roller.

*All aftermarket line rollers come with two bearings for a 2BB setup.
Reels originally equipped with a 1BB line roller will be upgraded to 2BB.


For reels like SHIMANO NASCI and DAIWA REVROS, which come without any bearings in the line roller, it is generally impossible to convert to a 2BB line roller.
However, tuning kits to upgrade to a 1BB setup are available.
